WHAT IS BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Breast augmentation is a procedure where the size and shape of breasts are changed. It is undertaken to increase the volume and is often used to provide symmetry between both sides.
HOW IS AN IMPLANT PROCEDURE DONE?
Under general anaesthetic a small incision under the natural crease of the breast is made, through this hole an implant is placed behind the breast tissue and or the muscle tissue. Surgical sutures are used to close the incision. The procedure usually takes around one hour to complete.
RECOVERY AND AFTERCARE
It will take a few weeks to fully recover from the surgery, at least two weeks off work is recommended. Strenuous activities should be avoided for at least one month. Within six weeks you should be able to return to normal activities and your breasts will start to look and feel more natural. An overnight stay at the hospital may be recommended to monitor the surgery. A sports bra is also often recommended to be worn 24 hours a day for around two months after the surgery. As usual mild pain medication and antibiotics will be provided.
